Valentin Bognan Koné
Valentin Bognan Koné is a PhD candidate in Sociology of Health at University Felix Houphouët Boigny in Abidjan; an associated researcher at Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire; a member in the Group of Technology, Nutrition and Quality of Food.
From September 2015 to November 2016 he was an ESKAS/FCS fellow as a visiting PhD Student at the University of Basel, Switzerland. From June to December 2017, he received a scholarship from the Fondation Oumou Dilly as a visiting PhD student at the Centre for African Studies Basel (CASB). His PhD is under the supervision of Prof. Roch Yao Gnabeli at University FHB Cocody Abidjan, Prof. Dr Brigit Obrist at the University of Basel and Prof. Bassirou Bonfoh, the director of the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire. His areas of research and interest concern nutrition, health, and well-being in which he has several publications.
He completed his Master degree at the University Felix Houphouët Boigny in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, for which he conducted fieldwork on „Perception and Representation of the Quality of Food in Cinzana in Mali.“ For his PhD thesis, his main interest is the topic of well-being and nutrition, exploring „Beliefs and representations associated with health risks from food taboo in Bongouanou, Côte d’Ivoire.“
